Filtering memories through hand-crafted, puppet-like forms allows exploration into the ideas of sadness and connection. Simultaneously, incorporation of the mechanical dog and printed textiles in “Temporal Displacement” recall relationships that began in childhood. Clay is used due to its archeological association with vessels unearthed after centuries – a type of material metaphor of memories similarly buried and reconsidered; taking new and strange forms as they repeatedly emerge through time. As a subject, specific personal memories are translated and transformed into something more tangible; objects that express ideas that lie just beyond chronicle and conjure fleeting connections.
